You can either ring Francis House Children’s Hospice on 0161 443 2200 to arrange collection of a batch or deliver (even just a few) to their fundraising office in Didsbury. They need the eggs by the first week of March though…
Last year they raised £10,000 and have received knitted chicks from as far away as New Zealand.
We would just like to lend a hand to supporting this campaign as part of our ongoing support for Francis House. You may or may not know that for every client who is referred to us that we go on to act for, we donate £50 to Francis House to support their incredible work with children who have life-limiting illnesses.
The idea of selling little knitted chicks to cover chocolate eggs was originally hatched 14 years ago by a small group of supporters, and went nationwide in 2013.
This year, with the help of their crafty supporters across the country, hundreds of woolly little chicks have flown their nests to arrive at the hospice, where they are now waiting eggs-pectantly for a chocolate egg to put in their nest. Once filled, they will fly out to local primary schools before they hatch. Going cheep at just £1, the children shell out for a woolly friend and return the proceeds to Francis House. Each Easter we sell thousands of the knitted chicks, with last year’s appeal raising an egg-ceptional £10,000.
