How would you like to spend your Christmas and New Year??

Hopefully you are one of the millions who spend Christmas and New Year enjoying a well-earned break with family and friends, rather than the not so lucky few who spent the festive season filling out their tax returns online.

According to HMRC the numbers breaking off festivities to complete and submit their tax returns increased dramatically from 2011 to 2012, with more than 10,000 people filling in their returns on the three days from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day. The New Year break saw more than 27,000 people submitting their returns on New Year’s Eve, and over 12,000 on New Year’s day.

Incredibly 160 people spent the final hour of the year filing their self-assessment forms!!

Don’t let this be you, if you haven’t already done so, get started now and make sure you can relax and enjoy your holiday season.

Read on for our handy guide and action plan to help you take the stress out of self-assessment:
