When it comes to charity it’s important our contribution goes to genuine worthwhile causes, especially those who rely on funding to continue the incredible work they do. Therefore, we are thrilled to announce we will be supporting two new charities this year.
Ball Tampering Allowed and Smart Works are both committed to having real and meaningful impact.
From raising awareness of male-related cancers, (encouraging ‘lads and dads’ to check their nads). To helping unemployed women get the coaching, clothing and confidence they need to secure employment.
The mission of Ball Tampering Allowed is to reduce male cancer deaths in the UK, which are 40% higher overall.
Smart Works was launched in 2013 to help empower unemployed women with the clothes, coaching and confidence they need to succeed at their job interview and transform their lives.
They exist to help women break the cycle of hardship that results from being unemployed. They help women transition into employment by providing high-quality interview clothes and interview training, unlocking their confidence and self-belief. The need for Smart Works has never been greater.
The legacy of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis has had a disproportionate impact on the women they exist to support. In the last year, 40% of their clients had been unemployed for over a year, and 12% had applied for over 100 jobs before going to Smart Works. A significant proportion of their clients were single mothers and over half were from an ethnic minority.
