Meet the IN Team

Sarah is quick to remind us that she’s NOT an accountant.

Following a corporate career in Strategy, Sales & Marketing, Sarah set up her own business coaching and consultancy company before joining the IN Team.

Now, she works tirelessly to ensure that all clients receive a top-quality service with a smile.

When Sarah’s not serving our clients and managing the workplace, she is a full-time taxi for her two crazy teenagers. You may recognise Alex from his explanatory videos on our website.

As a keen walker, runner, tennis player and cyclist, Sarah loves to be out and about in the fresh air.

Managing Director

andy tyler

A serial entrepreneur having successfully grown Cullen Wealth Ltd to achieve a £6m turnover, Andy founded IN Accountancy in late 2012 to fill a gap in the market.

With almost 40 years of accounting experience (this is where you say he doesn’t look old enough 😉), clients appreciate Andy’s straight talking, direct approach, and the fact that he’s ‘been there, done that’ as a business person as opposed to ‘just’ an accountant.

When not working, Andy can be found walking in the Lake District with his Dalmatian (just the one), on his road bike up a hill somewhere, or playing the saxophone in one of many bands. Or dabbling with his ‘side hustle’ VSO

Paul Smith Associate Director IN Accountancy

Paul completed his AAT at a small accountancy practice in Stockport in 2002, followed by his ACCA professional exams at yet another Stockport based firm, where he spent large amounts of time in the audit and assurance sector to help widen his understanding of both accountancy and business.

Paul lives in Disley with his fiancée Rachel and their two gorgeous babies.

We originally said that when not working, Paul can often be found on the basketball court, but having torn his achilles tendon on his first venture out post lockdown 2021, that’s all in the past.

In the near future, Paul would love to travel through South America to explore the unique, rich culture of that region

Accounts Director

Kathryn Heald who works on your accounts

Born in the UK, Kathryn emigrated to Utah when she was 4 years old before returning in 2010.

Kathryn joined IN Accountancy in July 2013, and is our longest-serving employee. She has achieved her MAAT and ATT and is currently studying for her CTA – the highest level of tax qualification in the UK.

When not working, studying, or looking after her littlest, Kathryn enjoys running, country walks and reading (with murder mysteries being her favourite genre).

She has three beautiful children – Alexis, Michael, and Alayna and is hoping one day to take a trip to her dream holiday destination of Venice.

Stockport Accountants IN Accountancy

Sue started her career in accountancy straight from school in 1985. Sue gained her AAT qualification in 1991, and later completed her ACCA in 1996 and obtained her fellowship in 2002.

Sue is our in house Sage expert.

Outside of accountancy, Sue’s interests lie in classic cars, gardening, and being immersed in the great outdoors.

She is also famous for making exquisite chilli jam.

Once COVID-19 passes and we can fly again, Sue’s looking forward to travelling around the world. Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and America are just a few of the countries at the top of her list.

Senior Accountant

David joined Harrison Newall accountants straight out of school as a 16 year old apprentice, and worked for John Newall and his father before him until IN Accountancy bought the business in 2014.

David is the ultimate ‘safe pair of hands’ as well as a fantastic trainer of the younger generation.

David has recently dropped down to working only two days a week in the office – perhaps because he took up golf a couple of years ago??!

When not working or on the golf course, David likes spending time with family and friends, and listening to live music.

He’s also our go-to encyclopedia for the best places to grab a drink in Stockport 🍻

Nigel Dickens in-accountancy

Starting his working career as a paper boy, Nigel has worked in accountancy since 1990.

He stayed with his first practice in Hyde for 17 years and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant before making the move in 2007 to Booth Ainsworth in Stockport. Here he looked after a portfolio of clients in all sorts of sectors including distribution, manufacturing, architects, PSCs and not for profits.

When not working, Nigel is kept busy by his family, particularly his two daughters who enjoy dancing and horse-riding.  In the rare moment or two that he does manage to get to himself he enjoys a good book or podcast, and occasionally watching Star Wars on repeat.

Nigel was very impressed by the quality and quantity of pre-Christmas cupcakes 🍰 supplied by our very generous clients during hi first week at IN HQ

Stockport accountants payroll

Sandra’s been working in Payroll since 1989 and has achieved a BTEC in Payroll Management.

She joined IN Accountancy in 2018, and in April 2021 transferred the practice onto a whole new payroll system with ease – something that she’s rightly very proud of!

Sandra’s dream holiday destination would be somewhere at the top of a mountain, basking in the sun. She would choose invisibility if she could choose to have a superpower, because, well why not?!

Sandra Emerson-Fortnum

Payroll Manager

Rachel Wood AAT

Rachel joined IN Accountancy in June 2013, and had the audacity to leave when she qualified at Level 4 AAT.

It didn’t take long for her to see the light and come ‘back home’ to the IN Team… and it’s something we don’t let her forget 😉

Rachel is our very own Xero Hero, digital accounting champion and is currently studying towards her ACCA qualification.

When Rachel’s not working, she likes going to the gym, socialising with family and friends, going to the cinema, and watching Manchester United.

Rachel Wood, MAAT

Senior Accountant

Theo Whitley

Theo, born and bred in Bramhall, is an Aquinas College Accountancy department graduate. Theo has already obtained his AAT and is currently studying towards his ACCA.

Theo is our in house FreeAgent expert ☺

Theo has always been a big sportsman, having played tennis at county level and golf for North-West England. Playing for his men’s scratch team at 14 years old, he is clearly a golfer ahead of his time!

If he could pick one last meal to have on earth, Theo would choose drunken noodles with duck from Noks Thai in Bramhall, followed by apple crumble with custard!

Don’t ask!!!

Theo Whitley, MAAT

Senior Accountant

Olivia Levell

Olivia joined IN Accountancy straight from Aquinas College in August 2018 having completed A Levels in Accounting, Business and ICT. With a natural affinity to technology, Olivia is our in house systems and efficiencies expert!

Olivia has achieved her level 4 AAT with us and is currently studying towards her ATT qualification. Once fully qualified she intends to continue her studies with specialisms in Trusts and achieve chartered status.

Don’t be fooled by her quiet demeanor – Olivia is a Karate black belt, as well as a regular gym goer and movie watcher. She also loves spending time with friends and family and is hoping someday to visit the Maldives.

Rourke Neal In Accountancy

Rourke (not Neal as many people call him) went to Bramhall High and Aquinas College. Another bright spark, he achieved exceptional results in his Economics, Accounting, and PE A levels.

Rourke is qualified at Level 3 AAT, and almost completed his Level 4 qualification at time of writing, before continuing his studies with ACCA.

Rourke is a passionate Manchester United fan, watching the matches religiously week in, week out.

When he is not studying for his upcoming exams, he is out playing semi-pro football, buying expensive brands and training at the gym to impress his female friends. Rourke’s dream holiday destination is Brazil.

Rourke Neal, AAT

Jenny wood in-accountancy

Jenny joined IN Accountancy as Office Manager in November 2021, having previously spent 15 years at Cestrian Imaging in Cheadle, where she had started as Maternity cover in the accounts department and worked her way up through the organisation to the position of General Manager.

When not working Jenny can usually be found spending time with family and friends, in the pub or at live events.

She shares her home with her husband, their teenage son and not one but two gorgeous, if crazy, Bengal cats!

She’s a savory type and loves anything with cheese 🧀… and if she were having a fondue she’d love to invite Billy Connelly and Stevie Nicks to join her 🤔

Jenny Wood, CIPD

Office Manager

Dylan is well known in the South Manchester business community, particularly for his unlimited appetite for exercise, ‘netwalking’ and, well, food.

A regular on Freshwalks networking excursions, Dylan is always careful to ensure that no-one ever leaves a rucksack unattended. Or if they do he will swiftly confiscate any contraband he finds.

Should you ever meet him, he has a penchant for ham, cheese and mustard on brown, but is never too picky.
