Flexible Furlough & Discretionary Grants Phase Two

Update – 10 June is the last day you can add new employees to your furlough scheme if you would like them to be able to take advantage of the new flexible furlough scheme from 1 July 2020.

And Stockport Council’s discretionary grant funding scheme opens for phase two.

More details below, taken from our client newsletter…

I hope you’re well and starting to see some more business activity in the pipeline as lockdown eases?

It genuinely is just a quick update today ???? to remind you that under the new ‘Flexible Furlough’ rules, today is the last day you will be able to add any new employees to the furlough scheme should you wish to bring them back on a part time basis from 1 July.

For more on the scheme, please see our previous newsletter, which you can find on our home page:

www.in-accountancy.co.uk

Further details are expected to be announced by the Chancellor this Friday evening, so I will send you a full update of changes thereafter.

With regards to the Top Up Grants, let’s for now change the name of these and refer to them as Discretionary Grants. As has been rightly pointed out, the top up term is incredibly misleading, as these discretionary grants are actually only for those businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic who have NOT had previous grant support such as Small Business Grants, Retail and Hospitality Grants or Self Employed Income Support Scheme Grants.  Grants under the Job Retention Scheme (Furlough Grants) are however allowable.

The scheme has now closed Phase One of its funding and communicated to all businesses whether they have been successful or not.

Phase Two is now open for applications, and this phase is primarily for those businesses with high fixed property costs and a rateable value of between £15,000 and £20,000 per annum.

Good luck, and as always, please ask if you have any questions.Best wishes as always,
