What an incredible turnout we had bright and early on the morning of Friday 31 January 2020 for our inaugural SUBS Stockport Networking & Learning Event!
Gorvins Solicitors in central Stockport were good enough not only to host the event at their offices, but to provide a fantastic breakfast, which I’m sure added to the whole buzz as local business owners met and mingled.
The theme for this launch event was setting the 2020’s to be your best years ever, and if the meeting was anything to go by, we can safely say the the 2020s will indeed be roaring!
Those of you who know me, know that I have been wanting to set up some sort of business networking and learning event for some time now.
A big part of our values here at IN Accountancy are about caring and helping businesses and business owners succeed. It can be a lonely place when you run your own business, and so we wanted to establish a safe environment, with a group of like minded people who can all support one another and others to succeed in business. I also love connecting people and seeing what transpires from these new relationships.
When I discovered what SUBS have been doing in Altrincham for the last five or so years, it seemed like a no brainer to build this business community in Stockport.
If you’d like to know more about how to set the 2020’s up to be your best years ever, or learn about my Formula for success (DxGxPxA for those in the know), look out for more articles and maybe even a couple of videos on these subjects coming soon (that’s my public accountability to make sure I actually do it!)
This first event was very well attended, with around 50 business people and standing room only. We were delighted to be supported by some of our clients; Karen from Managed Ink, Jon from Deanprint, Sue and Inness from Instilled and Martin from Jepson Electrical; as well as others with whom we have close business relationships such as Cullen Wealth, Gorvins of course, Richard from Marketing Stockport and Dave Wilson from Spinnaker Corporate Finance. And alongside many familiar faces, were also lots of new contacts who it was lovely to meet ‘in real life’ (or IRL if you’re down with the kids).
The SUBS model is to provide fully funded networking and learning events, which are held once a month and free to attend for all. We are enabled to do this through a network of key partners who support the events financially as well as helping to run them, present at them and who meet together separately between the monthly free events to help one another build our respective businesses.
We are delighted to confirm that independent financial advisors, Cullen Wealth and specialist WordPress and branding agency, Instilled are founding partners and we are looking forward to working closely with them, and others, to provide some really high quality events in the coming months.
If you are interested in getting more involved with SUBS Stockport, either at a partner level, or just by coming along to future events, then please do drop me a line on [email protected] or give me a call on 0161 4569666.
I’d also like to say a huge thank you to all the SUBS Altrincham partners who made the effort to come along and support our launch event – Alex from Altrincham HQ, Sonya from Stratus Associates and photographer Martin Hambelton, who took a number of the photos I’ve shared here.
And of course a massive thanks to Theo, Jan and Andy who all got up early on their Friday to join us ????
Our next event is scheduled for 8-10 am on Friday 28th February, kindly hosted once again by Gorvins Solicitors where we will be exploring top tax and financial planning tips ahead of the end of the tax year on 5th April, which is fast approaching.
Making sure your money works for you by making the most of your tax allowances for Pensions, ISAs, CGT, IHT and Income Tax, is vital for any successful business owner. But don’t worry we guarantee to keep the topic light and jargon free, with plenty of opportunity for Q&A…
Places will be limited, so after last week’s sell out I would encourage you to book as soon as you possibly can to avoid disappointment.
We look forward to seeing you then.
