George Osborne delivered his second budget of the year on 8 July 2015. Following the general election in May this was the first full Conservative budget since 1996. Β The budget focussed on reducing the budget deficit and moving from a ‘low wage, high tax, high welfare economy’ to a ‘higher wage, lower tax, lower welfare country.’ Brief details of some of the more significant proposals are set out below.
